Strangely enough, Goya was not inspired until the age of 45, when he became deaf and unable to communicate with the world except through his eyes, his paints and his brushes. Eventually Goya was forced into exile in France, where, in 1828, he died at the age of 82. His work remains the very symbol of suffering-of Spain's terror, fury and hope.�
